The Type XIX Interdiction Vessel is a deep void interdiction vessel in service with the Imperial & Federal Navy. Interdiction vessels fill a very specific role within the Imperial & Federal Navy, and thus operate under the auspices of Interdiction Command, rather than being a part of either the Scouting, Battle, or Reaction Fleets of any given Fleet Group. Although it is the size of a light cruiser, the Type XIX is very lightly armed and armoured, and a weak ravelin array. Its high pressure reactor limits the amount of power available to its impellers, warp, and transition drives, which makes the vessel very slow at both STL and FTL travel. However, the Type XIX is equipped with an Emissions Reduction System (ERS), which is capable of masking the vessel's detectable emissions of most forms of radiation to levels equal to or below the standard deep space background level.
