A War Chief (Meoquanee:ᏓᏄᏩ ᎤᎬᏫᏳᎯ) of the Meoquanee is the chief military officer of the Meoquanee military societies in times of war. Traditionally the War Chief is the High Chieftain of the Meoquanee, however it can be anyone from among tribal leadership should the High Chieftain want someone else appointed in his stead. The Meoquanee limits the War Chief to only one person that may hold it at any given time, however those who have been bestowed the honor are referred to as "Honored Battle Man" and are considered wise advisors to the war chief. Currently as the Meoquanee are in time of peace, there is no War Chief however the current High Chieftain, Tecumseh, has stated should it be necessary he would take up the mantle without hesitation.
