The Meoquanee, also known as the Great Meoquanee Nation, is a confederation of tribal groups in Anteria. The confederation was formed in 1794 by a man named Tuskaluza, who was known as the "Great Peacemaker" or Skennenrahawi. He brought together seven tribes, including the Ehawee, Takchawee, Tocho, Nokosi, Mahkah, Kwatoko, and Chosovi tribes, and formed what is now referred to as the Council of Seven Fires. The Meoquanee have a rich and complex history, with each tribe having its own unique culture, traditions, and customs. The confederation was established to promote unity and cooperation among the tribes and to provide a framework for resolving disputes and making decisions that affect the entire confederation.

Today, the Meoquanee Nation is home to over half a million people, with the largest tribe being the Ehawee, which has a membership of 223,564. The smallest tribe is the Nokosi, with 17,210 members. The Meoquanee people continue to honor their traditions and maintain their cultural identity, while also adapting to the modern world.

Religion

The Meoquanee people follow a traditional religion known as Gaihwi:io, which translates to "Good Message" or "Great Law of Peace." This religion is based on the principles of unity, respect, and harmony with nature. At the core of their beliefs is the idea that all things are interconnected and that everything has a spirit or life force. The central deity of the Gaihwi:io religion is known as the Great Spirit, also called Unetlanvhi or the Creator. The Meoquanee believe that the Great Spirit is omnipotent, omnipresent, and omniscient, and that he presides over all things in the universe. They view the earth as a sacred place created by the Great Spirit for all his "children" to share and enjoy. The Meoquanee people also believe in the existence of other spirits, including ancestors, who play a vital role in their religious practices. They believe that these spirits are always present and that they can communicate with them through prayer, meditation, and other rituals.

The Gaihwi:io religion emphasizes the importance of living in harmony with nature and respecting all living things. The Meoquanee view themselves as stewards of the earth and believe that it is their responsibility to protect and care for the environment. They also believe in the importance of community and working together to achieve common goals.
