William I Stonebridge is the current King of Aswick. Born as the second son, it was never expected of him to take the throne, but after an accident involving his father and older brother, he reluctantly became the King of Aswick.

Life

Early Life

William Stonebridge was born on the 15th of November, in the year 1988. He was the senior of twins. His father had just been crowned King of Aswick. The twins were baptized in Saint Arthur's Cathedral on the 20th of January. William's Godparents are the Duke and Duchess of Winchester, Richard and Jane Sharpe.

Military Service

After graduating from Secondary School, William attended the Royal Naval. In two years he learned everything he had to, and then attended the Royal Air Force Flight Academy as an Acting-Ensign. He learned to fly, and joined the crew of HMS Enterprise (Aswick) in September of 2008. The ship soon deployed, though. The Prince and his Squadron flew countless of sorties, dropping ordnance and fighting enemy air threats. For his actions, Ensign Stonebridge was promoted to Lieutenant and awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Furthermore, his Squadron earned a Naval Meritorious Unit Citation.

Thrust into the role of King

On the 6th of June, 2010, King Marcus and Prince Rodney (Duke of Jamestown), were scheduled to arrive in the neighboring Republic of Kazia for negotiations to end the cold war that had been going on between the two nations since the end of the Second Regional War. They never arrived, however. Their plane supposedly had mechanical failures and crashed shortly after entering Kazian airspace. Following the incident, the Republic of Kazia refused to allow Aswickan investigators to investigate as the Kazians were investigating themselves. They concluded that the plane had had mechanical problems, but sources in the team revealed that there was more to it than that.

The war flared up again, and both sides started pushing eachother at the border once more. The Nation now looked at the Naval Aviator for guidance. He had never prepared for the possibility of becoming King. He never wanted it, in fact. But now he reluctantly accepted. The new King managed to keep the war from turning into an all-out war. Nonetheless, he was one of the many that wanted blood. Kazian blood.

Marriage

In 2011, the King of Aswick married the Trellinese Princess Nalaia. In a grand ceremony, the two were married in Saint Arthur's Cathedral. While the marriage was arranged obviously for political reasons, the pair learnt to love eachother in a relatively short time. In the autumn of 2014, it was announced that the Queen was pregnant. The child, named Alaric, was born on the 2nd of May, 2015.

Titles and styles

King William has the following titles:

His Majesty, by the Grace of God, King William Stonebridge the first, King of Aswick, Shield of Winchester, Count of Tyrsis, and Protector of the Realm.

  • His Majesty the King of Aswick
  • Shield of Winchester. A hereditary title conferred to the King of Aswick, due to the role of the Stonebridge family in the protection of the city shortly after its founding.
  • Protector of the Realm. Originally, this title was "Protector of the Colony", a title conferred on the Governor of Aswick. After the Aswickan war of independence, the newly installed Aswickan Parliament petitioned to have the title changed to its current form.
  • Count of Tyrsis. The ancestral title of the Stonebridge family in Aquitayne. Revoked in 1923 by the Aquitaynian Crown, but returned in the forties.
