The World Hit Festival 73 was the 73rd edition of the World Hit Festival, an international song contest.
The contest was held in Hercules in Beepee, after Tödlichebujoku, winners of the World Hit Festival 72, turned down the opportunity to host.
The contest was organised by the International Broadcasting Alliance (IBA) and host broadcaster Beepeean Occasional News Corporation (BONC).
The contest was held at The Hercules Conference Centre, Hercules, Cootamundra Islands, Beepee and consisted of a single live final on the 26 January 2024.
The show was presented by Beepeean television presenter and stage actor Ivan Mohr.
Eight countries participated in the contest, a drop of 4 from the previous contest, with 8 countries withdrawing from the contest. We are Dice Land debuted at the contest. Three countries returned, Hafamarimët (Last Contest : 59), Northern Beepee (69) and South Africa (68)
The winner was host nation Beepee. The winning song was "Hero" performed by Harry Boosey, written and composed by Boosey and Otto Tune.
The song won with 23 points, which was the lowest scoring winner since World Hit Festival 64, when Beepee won with 22 points. Interesringly, the winning entry received no top points from the juries. The margin of victory, by a single point, was also the narrowest winning margin since World Hit Festival 67, when Achaean Republic also won by 1 point.
Location
The 73rd World Hit Festival was held in the Hercules Conference Centre (HCC), Herclues, Beepee. This was the second time the venue, city, and nation, had hosted the World Hit Festival, having previously hosted World Hit Festival 65.
The Hercules Conference Centre, is a 8,000 seat capacity venue and was opened to the public in 2020 following a three year construction period.
Host country and city selection
Usually, the host nation is the winner of the previous Festival. As such, the hosting rights to the 73rd World Hit Festival were offered to Tödlichebujokui broadcaster Estegoa100. However, when they refused the option, Beepeean Occasional News Corporation, as runner up, was offered hosting rights.
The Beepeean Government together with the Beepeean Occasional News Corporation (BONC) had recently bid for the hosting rights to WorldVision Song Contest 111 with a bid from regional town Sion. As a result of the offer to host World Hit Festival, BONC withdrew from the WorldVision Song Contest host bidding to accept the rights for World Hit Festival instead.
Internal discussions originally put Sion as the preferred host city, however both Hercules and Norfolk Pinewoods cities also put forward bids. After deliberations, Hercules was chosen to have the hosting rights.
Participants
The World Hit Festival is an IBA associated event, however IBA membership is not required to participate and IBA Associate giving to those from outside the Alliance to participate in it's open events. The only eligibility is to broadcast the contest on the broadcaster's channel(s) and to enter an original song to compete.
Intially 11 nations declared interest in participating however only 8 remained eligible for the contest in time for the Allocation Draw.

Production
The 73rd World Hit Festival was produced by the Beepeean Occasional News Corporation (BONC) in association with the International Broadcasting Alliance (IBA). The senior managing director of the show was Ms Fanny Go-Lighty. The budget was shared between BONC, the Beepee Government and the Cootamundra Islands Regional Art Support Grant.
Visual Design
The original colour scheme for World Hit Fesitval 73 was a pink and yellow colour scheme, with a star themed Scoreboard.
Stage Design
The stage design incorporated a raised main rectangular stage backed by a large LED screen behind.
Extending from the centre of the main stage was a catwalk runway leading to a diamond shaped stage. Flagged by two sets of stairs.
Above the diamond stage are four large screens.
The full range of water, pyrotechnics, smoke and wind machines, and glitter canons were also available.
This edition indoor drones are available as well as lasers mounted on the floor and roof to create full a full height experience.
Presenters
The contest was presented by 28 year old, Beepeean television presenter and stage actor, Ivan Mohr.
At the time of the contest Mohr had over 10 years of acting and presenting experience.
Format
In the World Hit Festival each nation sends an artist and a song to compete against other nations and then votes on which nations and therefore their favourites, allocating them points and then the nation with the most points is crowned the contest's winner. The voting system is a 1-5 system of preference. Which means only a nation's top 5 entries will receive points, with 5 points going to the winner of that nation's combined ranking. A nation cannot vote for itself. This system was upheld for WHF73 with no changes to the process nor the voting for the edition.

The final took place on 26th January 2024, beginning at 00:30 GMT/UTC.
Eight countries participated and voted in the final.
The running order draw was issued on 17 Janauary 2024. Unlike some other editions where a placement or half draw took place, for this edition the show producers determined the running order.
The contest saw the following returning competitors:

Beepee won the contest with the song "Hero" with 23 points, performed by Harry Boosey, written and composed by Boosey and Otto Tune.
This was the second time Otto Tune had composed a winning song, as he was also the composer on Beepee's World Hit Festival 64 winning song, "Back to the Highlands".
Hafamarimët finished second with 22 points. Britonisea finished third, with 19 points.
We are Dice Land finished last with 5 points.
The interval act was World Hit Festival 72 winner, Tödlichebujoku singer, Peránttö Amano, performing the winning song "Don't Wait For Me".

Scoreboard
The results of the final were determined by votes of professional juries in all 8 of the nations competing.
Due to the smaller size of the edition, the usual two phase system of World Hit Festival was cut down to a single phase where all 5 points were revealed simultaneously.
The announcement of each set of points was conducted by each nation individually in the same order as the performances, with each nation's spokesperson announcing their nation's top ranking entry, with the remaining points having already appeared on screen.
