MotiveRetaliation for advances made by the Islamic Front.

The 2017 Fall Massacres were a series of attacks on civilians perpetrated by the Holy Resistance Movement between the 12th and 17th of October. After the Islamic Front captured a large portion of Kitungano province, the HRM launched attacks on Muslim civilians in retaliation, believing that Muslim civilians had supported the IF's recent gains. Civilians were attacked with firearms, machetes, and blunt weapons, with bodies being desecrated by HRM fighters. The HRM denies the attacks, claiming that they had been perpetrated by the Allied Republican Forces in order to "tarnish the good name of the HRM".
