The 2019 Cukobai-Tangdi Summit, commonly known as the Cukobai Visit, was a summit that was held by the Huajiang Government between Tangdi Governer Kong Lang and Cukobai Rai Puteh.[1] The summit was held inside of the city of Tangdi. The meeting between Kong Lang and Rai Puteh toured through several locations in Tangdi over the course of two days.[2] Afterward, an agreement was signed between Kong Lang and Rai Puteh that would keep Huajiangite scientists in Cukobai and for an extension of the Huajiangite-Cukobai Scientific Agreement.[3] Huajiangite President Meiying Yue was also present for post-tour negotiations.[1]
The summit was met with some backlash and controversy in Huajiang, and several times throughout the tour, protests were organized by Tangdi residents.[4] The summit came swiftly after the Barupertama Observatory Incident after several Huajiangite scientists went missing without contact on the observatory grounds. After the summit, it was announced that Cukobai efforts to find missing scientists would be increased and Barupertama Observatory would be off-limits to tourists. While some Huajiangite scientists were found, some scientists still remain missing.[5][6]
