The Agrarian Party (Miersan: Partia agrarna) is a political party which operates in the Miersan Sotirian Republic. Established in 1936 by farmers, the Agrarian Party has advocated for agrarian policies to help farmers in the Miersan Sotirian Republic.

Until the 1950s, the Agrarian Party was one of the two major opposition parties, the other being the Workers Party: due to its popularity among farmers, and lack thereof in the cities, the Agrarian Party was the smaller of the political parties. However, after the banning of the Workers Party in 1955, the Agrarian Party became the main opposition party in West Miersa, peaking in the late 1960s and early 1970s.

However, after the Miersan War, many people felt that the Agrarian Party was not a viable alternative to the Miersan National Party, leading to the Agrarian Party becoming the third-largest party in the National Assembly. The Agrarian Party would decline in support and popularity, primarily due to the decreasing numbers of farmers and peasants in the country, as more people migrate to urban centres, with its vote share consistently diminishing in general elections since 1986.

History

Ideology

The Agrarian Party is a supporter of agrarian politics, with the Agrarian Party supporting extensive agricultural subsidies for small farmers in the Miersan Sotirian Republic, and to ensure that peasants would be able to own their own lands, in opposition to renting their land. To this end, the Agrarian Party supports reducing regulations on farmers, so that they may be free to "grow whatever they please."

The Agrarian Party is firmly conservative: socially, it advocates for a prohibition on abortion under any circumstances, a ban on homosexuality, and advocates for a "return to traditional Miersan values," while economically, it advocates for the preservation of the mixed economy, and for the renationalization of all privatized firms.
