Ainara Galvez, born Ainara Galdamez on November 21, 1982, is an Mejian signer, songwriter, dancer and actress preforming pop music
Born in Lasarte, a suburb of Navarri, she began her singing and dance career at age 12, participating in a variety of children shows and modeling shoots before being signed with Range Records in 1998, at age 16. She was an instant success, with her first studio album, Under Control reaching the number one slot on the Impulso charts within a week of the albums release, and the title track earning over ten thousand hours of air time on radio stations within the first month of its release.
She is one of only two artists to receive the Impulso Act of the Year award or two or more consecutive years, once in 1999 with Under Control and a second time in 2000 with her 2nd studio album Rainy Nights Without You. In adidtion, she was again awarded the Act of the year award in 2012 for her 6th studio album The Fires Rise Along with other Mejian stars, including Yésica Cortes, Sofía Lujosa, and Vanesa Melendez, Galvez is widely considered to be one of the foremost female Mejian sex symbols of the modern era.
Early life
Galvez adopted the stage name "Ainara Galvez" when she began signing at age 16 after an executive at Range Records continued to mispronounce her actual surname, and instead began calling her Galvez. In a 2006 interview with Vida Estrellas, she admitted that the incident embarrassed her greatly, to the point that she ceased correcting the executive and adopted the name. Later in 2006, the executive, who had since been fired from the record company for unrelated issue, filed a lawsuit against Galvez claiming that he was entitled to proceeds from all of her works to date because he had provided her stage name. The case was heard by the Cruzar Tierra Provincial Court and dismissed in the same fay.
Career
Galvez was invited to preform at the first ever Impulso Summer Festivals in 2014 at the Zara Arena in Santa Madre, along with a host of other bands and musicians. She returned to the show again in 2016 and 2019.
In mid-2008, Galvez declined to renew her contract with Range Records which had carried her through career since she began signing professionally in 1998. She cited her decision to leave Range was "for the best." She signed a four year contract with Voz starting in 2009. She agreed to a residency show at the Gran Bahía Hotel in Sagaró starting in early February 2015 and running through the end of the year. The residency will consist of 21 shows through the end of November, 2015.
