The Alliance of Ornivian Progressives is a Centre-left federative political party in Ornivia, and is a Federation of Social Democratic and Progressive parties across Ornivia's member-states, as well as most of Ornivia's Trade Unions. It was formed in 2015 after the signing of the Treaty of Federation. It's the third largest party in Parliament, and is currently coalition partners with the United Liberalist Party in the Federative Government.

Social Democracy can trace its origins to the mid 20th century, where it developed as a branch of Socialism (which was first developed in the early-mid 19th century). Social Democracy had begun splitting off from the other two branches of Socialism during the Great Ornivian War. By the end of the Spring of Ornivia, Socialist leaders across Ornivia sought to mend the divisions in Socialism by calling the 2nd Ornivian Socialist and Communist Council in 1962.

Rather then unite Socialism, it instead divided it permanently into three branches. Revolutionary Socialism, Democratic Socialism and the mentioned Social Democracy, of which now the majority of Socialists across the region now supported, and members abandoned the Council after 6 days. Social Democrats, unlike the other two branches, had argued that Socialists should fully cooperate with Liberals in rebuilding the region after the Great Ornivian War, as well as advocating for democratic participation and, importantly, supported moderate policies. As Liberal Economic Policy, known as Ornivian Capitalism, proved it can reasonably protect workers from the oppression and exploitation that occurred under Nationalism, Social Democrats abandoned most pretence in opposing Capitalism in its current form in Ornivia.

In 1969, Social Democrats in Ornivia formed the Ornivian Alliance of Progressives and Social Democrats, which acted as a region alliance of Progressive and Social Democratic Parties across Ornivia. While perhaps not as enthusiastic for integration as the Liberals, the Social Democrats nevertheless became important advocates for Ornivian integration, while Socialists were opposed to integration. This resulted in Social Democrats finalising its split with the rest of Socialism, and from this point most did not consider themselves to be Socialists, instead being just Social Democrats or Progressives. It was during this period of integration that the Social Democrats and Liberals would form a political friendship which now acts as one of the linchpins of modern Ornivian politics. By the 2000s, Progressives supported the formation of an Ornivian Federation, and supported the Federation Conference in 2015, and would form the Alliance of Ornivian Progressives later in the year following the Conference's success. After Unification, the party supported Liberalist candidate Kevin Hartley in the 2025 Presidential Election, and would go on to become the third largest party in Parliament following the 2025 Parliamentary Election. The party currently governs Ornivia under a coalition government with the United Liberalist Party.

The Progressives follow the traditions of Social Democracy. Generally regarded as being a more left-wing alternative to the Liberals, the party tends to promote employee focused policy within the Ornivian Economic Consensus, which is a linchpin of Ornivian politics. This Consensus mandates the maintaining of Ornivian Capitalism, as well as advocating for a balance between employee, employer and state interests in the economy. The Progressives are strong supporters of minority and LGBTQ+ Rights. The party after unification has argued for stronger federative powers, the legalisation of soft drugs, and a faster progression towards rehabilitative justice, among others. They have recently given its support for a Telrovan Assembly and South Elisian Regional Organisation.
