Alpesjärvi is a mining town between the mountains Silverbergen and Dyrshjartan in northern central Greater normark. It has a population of 53,000 which makes it the 13th most populous city in Greater Normark. It was created in 1890 when the Normarkian state owned minining company Normarkske Gruvdriftskompaniet set up a mine in Silverbergen and set up a small mining town south of the mine. The mining town boomed during the 1930s as several more iron and silver mines were set up in the mountains around Alpesjärvi and by the 1960s it had become the by far biggest city in Sydarokouska. Even if the town is still somewhat dependent on the iron and silver mines, it has expanded it's industries to servie-oriented industries but also the manufacturing of mining equipment.
