Field Marshal Ameer Omar (Arabic:أمير عمر) is a Jabal Qassuon politician, senior Jabal Qassuon Arab Army officer and current Minister of Defense. He was appointed by his brother, President Abdul Rahem Omar. A controversial figure, Omar is also known as the primary leader and organizer of the 1960 Jabal Qassuon coup d'état which removed Sultan Omar bin Bader Al-Qassuon I from power and established Jabal Qassuon as a Republic under the Republican Socialist Party.
