Anastasius I was the Prince of Theodoro from 1508 to 1543. Born in 1491 as the son of Prince Joseph I, he acceded to the throne at the age of 17, after the death of his father. He was most noted for his intervention in the Ottoman Civil War on Selim's side. They ultimately emerged victorious, with Anastasius and the newly-crowned sultan Selim signing the Treaty of İzmir, beginning a nearly 5-decade period of peace between Theodoro and the Ottomans.
