The Animal Justice Party is a minor political party in West Phoenician politics.
Founded in 1990 by retired veterinarian Francis Spoleto who had a general love and care for animals and wanted to ensure there welfare was protected by rights.
The Animal Justice Party is the first West Phoenician political party to focus primarily on the welfare of animals.
Animal welfare groups were quick to promote the party as one that would bring positive change to the lives of animals.
From 2009 the party included environmental issues, welfare, social justice and activism as part of its policies to increase its voter base.
History
Founded in 1990 by retired veterinarian Francis Spoleto who had a general love and care for animals and wanted to ensure there welfare were protected by rights.
The Animal Justice Party was the first West Phoenician political to focus primarily on the welfare of animals. While considered a minor party, over the years, events led to the AJP being able to use their limited power ability to pass a number of policies.
Beginning as a grassroots movement to educate the population on animal welfare. Protests were a regular occurrence in the early 90', members would protest outside organisations that engaged in animal testing, outside circuses and other entertainment venues which they deemed were cruel or inhumane to animals.
At the 1992 National Election they failed to win any seats.
However at a city-state level they picked up a small number of seats to gain representation.
The 1995 National Election was held during the 4th West Phoenicia Civil War. While many thought it would be postponed, the election went ahead.
The Animal Justice Party won 5 seats during that election. For their support to Emperor Thaddeus Gryphon over Princess Aphrilis, the party found favour with the Emperor.
In 1996 the AJP was able to win a few concessions most notably Poaching was added to the list of the nation's capital crimes, 10 Wild Life Reserves were appointed across the nation to protect vulnerable species and a Animal Justice Court was created to resolve disputes by determining the facts and applying legal principles to decide who is right in areas of civil and criminal cases involving animals.
During the reign of Queen Jezebel Bush (2000-2010) and the 5th West Phoenicia Civil War (2008-2010) the Queen eliminated politicians that posed a risk to her reign. The AJP were dismissed as harmless and continued to be involved in politics in a limited capacity. They were successful in convincing Queen Jezebel Bush to ban the import of make up and beauty supplies tested on animals; she also cut funding to West Phoenician cosmetic and beauty supply companies that tested on animals. However Queen Jezebel Bush refused to ban the import and exports offur and ivory trade. An avid hunter, the Queen did not outlaw fox hunting.
The election years of 2001, 2004 and 2007 were fraught with voting rigging and suppression. Election officials under the threat of death by the Monarch committed fraud to ensure only those parties and politicians the Queen favoured won at elections.
From 2010 Under the AJP leadership of Foo Dutta, the party moved to include progressive Green Policies, Social Welfare and marriage equality to their party platform.
Foo Dutta was quite vocal in parliament, denouncing the right wing policies and calling for West Phoenicia to have a progressive revolution.
On New Years Eve 2016, while celebrating at a party at the Jungle Club Nightclub in the West Phoenician city-state of Africana Territory; Foo Dutta was gunned down outside the club.
The culprit, Solomon Gustav was part of an ecoterrorist organisation who felt Foo Dutta was not doing enough to protect the environment.
Amanda Chatterman was elected as the next party president to lead the AJP forward. While continuing with the leftist progressive policies. Amanda Chatterman has reignited the party by going back to it's original core, the welfare of animals.
Under her leadership, the party has grown in members, public protests have grown as the party protests events such as the multi million dollar Royal Phoenicia Cup Festival. The AJP believe the event is inhumane to horses. Other events that still use animals for entertainment are also heavily protested.
The AJP moved to not only protest on the streets but have a huge social media following.

Controversies
• In 2016 the West Phoenician city-state of New Tudor has banned the AJP from having a registered National and Regional political party in the state, due to the increase of violent protest clashes that occurred due to New Tudor favour of fox hunting. The Courts in New Tudor have upheld the ban, and their are talks of the Animal Justice Party seeking to appeal the decision to the West Phoenician Supreme Court.
• In 2017, 2018 and 2019 members of the Animal Justice Party have been involved in protests at the Royal Phoenicia Cup to highlight the cruelty of horses that occur.
On all three occurrences members were arrested for crimes such as trespass, resisting arrest and assault. Most members have been let off with fines. However in 2018 there was a violent clash between Royal Phoenicia Cup organisers and AJP members; a number of those involved where arrested and sent to prison for assault.
• On 10th March 2019, party secretary Gypsy Rosalie was fined $5000 for throwing red paint over a member of the Aristocracy Party who entered the West Phoenician Senate Chamber wearing a fur coat and ivory earrings.
