The Archistrate (portmanteau of orchistrate, arch and strata) is the name given to a clandestine organization, spread around the world, working behind the scenes for much of Human recorded history to in effect protect Humanity, sometimes from themselves. They've taken up interest in fields that involve the paranormal, supernatural, preternatural... and extraterrestrial.
Overview
The Archistrate is an organization, of which their clandestine nature has left an overall dearth of information in regards to their organization. Their location, and numbers except that the organization was founded for the purpose of protecting Humanity, though from whom or what has never been disclosed.
