The Artemis Battalion (officially the 341st Independent Light Infantry Battalion) is a Syaran infantry battalion of the Syaran National Army composed entirely of women. The Artemis Battalion is stationed in the city of Svajec on the island of Chryse at the western mouth of the Sundering Sea.
Syaran combat formations are officially gender segregated per the Syaran Central Command, while support services formations have been gender integrated since 1988. In 2015 the Ministry of Defense announced that it would begin accepting volunteers for an all-female rifle company to be stood up within the fiscal year. The first company, Alpha, was stood in December 2015. Due to an upsurge in volunteers and requests the Ministry of Defense announced the force would be expanded into a battalion, which was made official in August 2017 with the official designation 341st Independent Light Infantry Battalion. The Artemis Battalion falls under the 3rd Area Defense Brigade, Chryse Regional Command.
The battalion is composed of four companies; a headquarters company and three rifle companies (Alpha, Beta, Gamma), and a heavy weapons detachment consisting of an anti-tank platoon, a heavy mortar battery, an air defense platoon, and an engineering section. As light infantry, the primary mode of transportation is the Phaethon armored personnel carrier. The battalion posesses three anti-tank guided missile launchers, two towed anti-tank guns, one mobile surface-to-air missile launcher system, four man-portable air defense systems, two armored engineering vehicles, and 43 armored personnel carriers.
