Asada Performing Arts Festival (Prawasian: Pesta Pentas Kesenian Asada) or APAF is an annual arts festival in Asada, Prawasia that celebrates, preserves and develops Asadanese art and culture. First held in 1978 it has become Prawasia's longest-running arts festival. The month-long event begins with an inaugural parade usually held on the grounds of Bajra Swatantria Monument and continues in its main venue, Asada Arts Centre, Praya. Traditional Asadanese artists perform daily, as do performers from other parts of Prawasia and other countries. The festival also features competitions, seminars, and exhibitions of art, handicrafts and authentic Asadanese cuisine.

History

The festival was founded in 1978, during the reign of King Frans Gasper, to promote and sustain Asadanese culture.

The basic organising regulation of the Asada Performing Arts Festival is the "Regional Regulation of Asada State Number 07 of 1988 concerning Asada Performing Arts Festival".

The first Asada Performing Arts Festival lasted approximately 2 months from June 16, 1978 to August 18, 1978. The festival attempts to preserve cultural arts by displaying classical art that is almost extinct and unknown to most in Asadanese society.

The Asada Performing Arts Festival is intended to motivate people to explore, discover and display the artistic contributions of the Asadanese community. The APAF offers a variety of unique and different themes each year.

In the history of the Asada Performing Arts Festival, it was typically inaugurated by high-ranking state officials. The APAF was first opened in 1978 by the late Frans Gasper, who at that time was the reigning King of Asada Island as well as the initiator of the APAF.
