At'atia is a cold, rocky, and mountainous terrestrial planet located in the Outer Band of the Talin Galaxy. The sentient native species of the planet are the At'ul, but the planet is diversely populated including many Humans. The planet's population is divided into two communities: a community of human valley dwellers known as the First Wavers who live in the planet's remote valley regions, and a second-wave of human and alien settlers who dwell in urban centers such as Attis. The second wavers tend to be more affluent than the valley dwellers and the two communities often distrust each other. One of the most recent planets to join the Galactic Union, the settlement and modernization of the planet occurred late in galactic history. The At'uls and their primative technology came under the influence of human refugees after the Overspace disaster kick-started the colonization of the planet. Humans established mining, began to engage with galactic commerce, and attracted the attention of the Galactic Union. In 2999 AHT, At'atia formally joined the Galactic Union.
