The Aura is a home video game console developed by Gyldiv.

It is the current home console on the Gylian video gaming market.

History

Development of the Aura began in 2008.

In comparison to the significant advances and innovation of the Ion and Dreamsphere, the Aura project represented more of a refinement of the Dreamsphere than a great leap forward.

A big emphasis in development was internet support, with some team members expressing hope that greater ease of digital distribution might end the need to create separate consoles in favour of consistent downloadable upgrades.

By skipping an entire generation of the console war, Gyldiv entirely bypassed the ongoing interest in motion controllers and virtual reality. The new Director of the Management Board expressed skepticism about both, describing them as "niche" products whose development was best left to independent developers.

Technical specifications

The Aura's technology is similar to the hardware of modern personal computers. It uses an Accelerated Processing Unit, and supports HDTV standards. It allows for wireless connectivity and USB ports.

Accessories

The Aura has an optional motion detector and virtual reality system, developed by separate companies and distributed by Gyldiv.
