Avanti Marirana! is a left-wing electoral alliance of four political parties in Marirana that currently form the government of Marirana. It is dominated by the Democratic Party of Socialists, with its other members being the Union of Green Democrats - Ecological Action, Party of Social Justice and Positive Marirana.
Avanti Marirana! was formed after the PDS's "open primary of the left" in the run up to the 2017-18 election when members of the PDS, UDV-AE and PGS were allowed to vote for a candidate of the left, with PDS leader Lorenzo Occhetto winning the nomination. In a bid to "unite the left" Occhetto appealed to the leaders of the other parties to form one electoral list for both the presidential and legislative elections (scheduled for March 2018) leading to the creation of Avanti Marirana!. On the 1st January Positive Marirana joined the coalition. Occhetto won the January runoff election and in the April elections for the legislature the coalition attained a "qualified majority" in the House of Councillors and House of Senators.
Avanti Marirana! officially espouses left-wing principles, supporting socialism of the 21st century. Member parties of the coalition have a range of ideologies from green liberalism to the Christian left.
