The Aviation Safety Board, or ASB, is a federal investigative agency assigned to aviation accidents or plane crashes. The agency is currently based in the capital city of Viras, within the Terrier Executive Building.
The current Director is Frank Blanchet, who was approved by the National Assembly on 8 February 2013.
History
The accident of Air Fratanica Flight 76 on 10 July 1976 highlighted the inefficiencies and weaknesses in investigative efforts surrounding airplane accidents. As a result, the agency was created as part of the National Transportation Safety and Regulation Law of 1976, as the Civil Transportation Safety Bureau.
Due to the inefficiency of the CTSB dealing with different types of incidents, the organization was then splintered off on 9 January 1984, into multiple agencies, including the Aviation Safety Board. The act was known as the Reorganization and Reform of Transportation Authority Act of 1984.
