Baruti II is the king of Gautenga and head of the Sgombeni family, which has traditionally ruled over the Gauteng fornearly two centuries. Baruti II was crowned king in 1984, thus making him the first Gauteng monarch in nearly eight hundred years to have been proclaimed king in an independent Gautenga.
