In Berush, a duchy (or commonwealth) is a constituent polity, of which there are six. Loosly bound together in a political union, each duchy is largely autonomous, having semi-sovereignty. Due to the fact that the duchies do not share sovereignty with Berush, Berushians are citizens only of the duchy they live in, or of which they were granted citizenship.
