Borjatstanian languages

The Borjatstanian languages, are Okchonic languages spoken primarily by the Borjatstanian peoples and their descendants. They are thought to descend from a proto-language called Proto-Borjatstanian, spoken during the 3 millenium before CE, which in turn is thought to have descended from the earlier Okchon language, linking the Borjatstanian languages to the rest of Okchonic languages.

The Borjatstanian languages are conventionally (that is, also on the basis of extralinguistic features) divided into four subgroups: Upper Taho, Lower Taho, Kjasne, and Takgaje, which together constitute more than 9 languages. The predominant languages in each subgroup are: Kezagri, and Kyhagi (of the Upper Taho group), Ojzegi, and Tozhejmi (of the Lower Taho group), Kaspian, and Aral'sk (of the Kjasne group), and Takgari and Takje (of the Takgaje group).
