The Brativas Tram Network (Sloverti:Brativaská Električková sieť) is a tram/light rail system operating in Brativas, Slovertia. The tram network has three main lines; The North-South line which runs north to south through the centre of the city, the East-West line which runs east to west through the city and the central line which serves locations in central Brativas. The tram network runs on 68.7 kilometres of track and serves 49 million passengers annually. The tram network has been in operation since the 1950's and saw major refurbishment in the late 90's and early 2000's. In 2005 the central line was created to serve central locations in Brativas and relieve congestion in those areas of the city.

History

Lines

The North-South line runs from Krnav station in the north of the city through the highly populated Mesto sever into the city centre through into the southern half of the city where it terminates. The North-South route was much shorter until 2005 when a new portion of track was built to stretch into the far south of the city.

The East-West line runs from Komovce west towards the city centre and through towards the western part of Brativas. The East-West line is the oldest part of the Brativas tram network and has remained largely unchanged since its contruction in 1952.

The central line serves central Brativas and was constructed in 2005 along woth new sections of the North-South line. The central line was constructed to relieve heavy congestion caused by traffic as it was hoped that the creation of the new line would create more use of the public transport.
