Catherine d'Montrose, daughter of Charles and Juana d'Montrose is a Swiss and Scottish noblewoman who was the sixth and eighth wife of Charles II of Espana and therefore Queen of Espana until his death in 2067. As the mother of the future king of Espana, as well as the elder sister of the now late Queen Anna of Scots she holds great influence and power in the political life of Espana and Europe. In 2040 and 2041 Catherine had two children with King Charles II, but she did not marry him until 2058 on the day of her sister's execution. Following her husband's death and her son's ascending the throne she became the second Queen Mother of Espana of the 21st Century. Catherine currently resides in Florence as Head of the Montrose Bank.

Montrose Banking Company

In 2064, not very long after her divorce from Charles II of Espana, Catherine d'Montrose found herself in the Deritain city of Florence in the Grand Duchy of Tuscany. Here Catherine toured the city and quickly grew favour with the local populace and soon had formed a sort of celebrityhood in the city, getting the avid support of the aristocrats and middle class there. Deciding to act on her previous experience in the atmosphere of banking back in Geneva, Catherine founded the Montrose Bank. Soon afterwards rose the Montrose Banking Company which she assumed the Head of. Catherine stepped down as head of the Montrose Banking Company in favour of her accountant and friend, Victorio Hespaso, a local Florentine.

In 2069, upon the fall of her son as King of Espana, Catherine, who was serving as the Regent of the Grand Duchy of Milan, was preparing to leave Milan, for her son was to begin governing there soon, and prepared to return home to Switzerland via Geneva to Lausanne with plans to retire. However, Erwin Müller, the newly elected Chancellor of the Swiss banished Catherine from the country and devoted her citizenship and status there. Her title as a Countess in Switzerland left her and went to her niece, Zénïade Montrose-Bonuparte.

The banishment caused an international scandal with all the Montrose Family leaving Switzerland for Derita and Tuscany. Catherine moved back to Florence. Here she re-established her status in the Grand Duchy and became Head of the Montrose Banking Company once again.
