The Confederacy of Free Avallonia, abbreviated to CFA, previously known as the Confederacy of Avallonia, usually referred to as Avallonia, was a Confederation founded by the numerous nations of Alderaan, the home planet of the Avallonians, in the year 2114.
History
Founded from the belief that through unity the Avallonians could transcend to the natural next step of civilization; space, and bring prosperity to her citizens by promising them never before seen riches and technological advancements.
In 2147 the first mining stations were online and the potential that space exploration had to offer were immediately seen. Scientists began publishing books about the potential for faster than light travel. In 2184 the first prototypes for FTL (faster than light) engines began appearing and showed much promise and by 2193 the first science ship capable of reaching another star system was launched, preparations began to explore the nearest star systems. Two years later the first military ships with FTL capabilities were launched, tasked with protecting the Confederacy from any potential threats. In 2200, after years of preparations, testing and planning, the first Avallonian science ship reached the nearest star system. High Commissioner Hannakona made a speech the same day declaring: “Today we begin a new journey and with it a new era. The era of Avallonia has come!” In the following 6 years the Avallonians explored numerous systems and expanded its influence over them. In the year 2207 Avallonian sensors picked up signals from an unknown spacecraft.
Initial attempts at contact with this new and unknown species proved difficult but eventually contact was established. They were a species referred to as humans from the Commonwealth of Man. Limited diplomatic relations were established. Avallonia soon established diplomatic relations with other nearby empires which included the Vools Accent, Fluid Assertion Swarm and the United Nations of Earth.
War with the Commonwealth of Man
The homeworld of the Commonwealth of Man, Unity, was a doomed world. Due to tectonic instability Unity was on a set course of destruction. This drove the Commonwealth to heavily finance their military. The Commonwealth would secretly build up their naval forces throughout the following years and around 15 years after first establishing contact, war would be declared to the Confederacy of Free Avallonia.
For the following years Avallonia was subjected to the military might of the Commonwealth. With their systems occupied and worlds under siege. Per decree of High Commissioner Hannakona, all able bodied Avallonians were to defend their world from the invaders. Several attempts were made to invade the Avallonians capital of Alderaan itself but all attempts were successfully thwarted. The Avallonians were however, supported by their neighbors. They were gifted weapons, food and precious recourses by their neighbors and eventually the battle would be joined by the Fluid Assertion Swarm and UNE.
The FAS had the most prominent navy in the south and was quickly able to defeat the vastly inferior navy of the Commonwealth. The war was won but at high cost for the Avallonians. Though they annexed the Commonwealth’s systems it was merely a pyrrhic victory for them. With millions laid dead and an economy ruins, Avallonia would never fully recover.
The Galactic Community
Though never an economic or military power the Avallonia would not sink into obscurity. They would form a federation together with the United Nations of Earth and the Fluid Assertion Swarm and they would be a vocal opponent to the People’s Republic of Despia and the corruption within the Galactic Community.
When the Despians tried to become the Galactic Custodian the Confederacy of Avallonia was the first to speak out against them. Holding a speech in front of the envoys of all empires they denounced the Despians, declaring them enemies of democracy. Nevertheless, through bribery and deceit, the majority of empires voted in favor of declaring the People’s Republic of Despia into the position of Galactic Custodian. Harrowing in a new age for the galaxy.
In the following decades Avallonia kept their anti-Despian attitude. Being vocal against the eradication of the Custodians term limit and eventually, their emperorship. There, in the great halls where the leaders and envoys of the Galactic Community meet, the Avallonian High Commissioner stood, as his predecessor stood as well decades ago when Despia became Custodian. And he declared:
“The Avallonian people stand united. We stand straight with a clear conscious knowing we stood against this threat from the beginning. Knowing we have been vocall about opposing this threat. Knowing we did not give in to temptations of greed and power. That we did not give in to bribery. That we did not give in to threats. We stand with our backs straight. We stand unbent.”
In a moment of turmoil after the declaration of the Galactic Imperium one of Avallonia’s oldest allies, the UNE, sent an ultimatum to become their vassal. The Avallonian’s, insulted by this betrayal, cut all diplomatic ties with the UNE.
War of the Righteous
In order to eradicate one of their most vocal political opponents the People’s Republic of Despia declared the Confederacy of Free Avallonia a crisis to be eradicated by all empires of the Galaxy. The grand fleet of Despia would soon fall upon the Avallonian systems. The small Avallonian Defense Fleet stood no chance against the might of the Despian armada and retreated. One by one Avallonian worlds fell. Even the UNE would join in the assault and invaded Avallonian territories. In an attempt to punish the betraying humans the Avallonians would slip past UNE defensive lines and bombard one of their worlds as retribution and even the Fluid Assertion Swarm would begin invading UNE systems but it was all for naught.
Despian forces would land on Avallonia and although resistance was fierce, and though the Despians were outnumbered with billions of Avallonians resisting the invasion, the Despians were successful in the end. Their superior equipment and technology proved too much of an obstacle to overcome. The last High Commissioner of the Confederacy of Free Avallonia gave one final broadcast to his people: “Avallonia has fallen. After a valiant defense of Avallonian, human, Ferengi and Droid defenders it's capital, Alderaan, has fallen to the Despian Empire. The backs of the Avallonian people have finally been broken.” He would die fighting a Despian tactical force sent to arrest him. The Despians would genocide the remainder of the populous. Transforming them into robots.
Several Avallonian colony ships were reported to have escaped beyond the galaxy during the invasion by the Galactic Imperium. One fleet of colony ships was headed towards the Apaxia system, located in the nearest galaxy. The expedition, comprised of several colony ships, which included Avallonians and Droids, was headed by the newly elected High Commissionair, Malkeer, who would eventually found the Avallonian Interstellar Confederacy on Nova-Alderaan in the Apaxia system, named after an old Avallonian God.
