The Constitution of North Borneo, officially the Constitution Act 1963, is the country's supreme law. It establishes North Borneo as a unitary constitutional monarchy with a parliamentary representative democracy, whereby the monarch of North Borneo is the head of state, represented in the country by the governor-general, and is the source of executive, judicial and legislative power, although effective power is in the hands of the Cabinet led by the prime minister whose members, including the prime minister, are drawn from the democratically elected North Borneo House of Assembly.
