Coveted-by-Leviathans (born Nayanan 16, Year 87, Cycle 28) was an Admiral of the Arms of Heaven. She is most famous for her actions during the Tanabiku War as commander of the 5th Spatial Arms, as well as Spatial Marshal of the Arms of Heaven—one of the few Azakayanese admirals to receive the title.
Early Life
Coveted was born in Nayanan 16 in Year 87 of the 28th Cycle (Azakayanese reckoning). Her mother was pregnant with her when she and her husband were moving to the Daini Quadrant on a colony ship when it was attacked by a leviathan. Having managed to escape on a life pod, she was rescued by a passing civilian vessel after 10 days of being stranded in space. But unfortunately she died giving birth to her daughter, but not before naming her "Coveted-by-Leviathans", after the circumstances of her birth.
Coveted was brought to another Azakayanese colony called Simapokatow. She spent much of her childhood on the streets of Misoaskwa, doing all sorts of work in exchange for money. She remembers those times as the moments she developed her values and her personality. She opted to join the Azakayana Military Academy when she was 14, thinking that she will become an officer in the Arms of Earth. Because of an incident where she vandalized the home of a faculty of the Academy, she was expelled during her 3rd year. After four years she managed to enroll at the Azakayana Spatial Warfare Academy and graduate in Year 115.
Career
Early Career
Her first years of service in the Arms of Heaven were with the Azakayanese Marine Corps. Her unit was sent to many frontier colonies to pacify several uprisings and rebellions, most notably the Apinakiw Revolt of Year 136.
Coveted was transferred to the Spatial Force in Year 162 as a Lieutenant and promoted to Captain in Year 168. That same year she received her own ship, the Pawnee, which was a light escort cruiser. As Captain she was assigned to the rimward frontier and participated in naval skirmishes against the Atmoran Empire. In Year 170 she married Horse-Drinking-by-the-Oasis, a fellow spatial officer, and had five children—three of whom would later serve in the Azakayanese spatial force. In her autobiography she wrote that letting her kids join the military would turn out to be "the most regretful decision she ever made in her life".
In Year 189 she was made Captain of the Wasteful Decadence, then one of the most powerful battleships in the Arms of Heaven. She later attained the rank of Rear Admiral in Year 192. It was then when she first formed the 7th Strike Group, which would go on to be one of the most decorated naval squadrons in the Azakayanese spatial force.
Tanabiku War
Coveted and the 7th Strike Group's first participated in the Battle of the Stephanides, the first major space battle between the Atmoran and Azakayanese forces in the Tanabiku War. Despite the Arms of Heaven's loss, her task force was commended with the destruction of 40 Atmoran ships, including two battleships. She also participated in the Battle of the Lok System, where she first came into contact with Purilla Azolla Sakar, sister of the Diistaak Ulokuun Eylok and an Admiral in the Diistaak Navy. Purilla and her personal squadron defected to the Azakayanese forces, and was subsequently assigned to Coveted's task force.
The 7th Strike Group was tasked with the search for the KMS Verathia, the pride of the Atmoran Space Command. The hunt for the Verathia went on for months, but eventually the Wasteful Decadence and three other Azakayanese warships sunk the Atmoran battleship at the fringes of the Osawayew System in Year 206.
In Year 208, the 7th Strike Group was ambushed by an Atmoran flotilla near the Sardopis System. In the midst of the battle, a boarding party breached the hull of the Wasteful Decadence and captured Coveted and her officers. They were subsequently taken to core Atmoran space as prisoners-of-war and paraded through Wolfina's streets with thousands of other Azakayanese POWs. Coveted was separated from her crew and taken to a secret KIVD facility, where she was tortured and abused for months for refusing to give information on the Arms of Heaven's war plans. She later escaped the facility thanks to a daring rescue plan by Purilla.
After recovering from her wounds, Coveted reentered service in Year 210. She was promoted to the rank of Admiral later that year for her actions during the Battle of Shining Stones. She was put in charge of the 5th Spatial Arms, set to face off the might of the Atmoran Space Command at the Avand System in the Year 211. The Battle of Avand resulted in a stunning Azakayanese victory and proved to be a major turning point in the course of the war.

In Year 225, news reached Coveted that her sons, Shaped-by-Rain and Leaping-Horse, died at the Battle of Darnar. She described the event as "her greatest defeat, one that could never be inflicted by the strongest of foes".
Post-Tanabiku War Period
After the war, Coveted was appointed Provisionary Governor-General of the occupied Atmoran territories for ten years.
Personal Life
Coveted-by-Leviathans is married to Horse-Drinking-by-the-Oasis, a Commodore and fellow officer in the Arms of Heaven. She gave birth to three sons and two daughters: Delicate-Butterfly, Shaped-by-Rain (deceased), Leaping-Horse (deceased), Wanderer-of-the-Fields, and Resting-Bear. Wanderer-of-the-Fields is currently a First Lieutenant in the 12th Spatial Arms.
Personal Beliefs
Coveted has repeatedly voiced her disapproval of the Treaty of Wolfina, believing that "the harsh terms of the treaty would only serve to antagonize the Atmorans and create another conflict". She later pointed to the rise of Empress Naomi IV and the remilitarization of the Trans-Glenraven Region as evidence of her predictions.
