Himei of the Shield
Goto-kei, First Captain of the Silver

Dai Tokurun or Daitokurun (Ancient Polawan: Tʰaʲ Tokkʰo Roon; Classical Polawan: Thai Tokoron, lit. "First Silver Captain", contemporary Polawan: Dai Tokūrun) was a Polawan culture hero, progenitor and ruler, largely from Mararasan poetry and sagas. According to Polawan accounts he is one soul stretched across five lives, three of which he has already lived, and his last appearance will herald the end of the universe.

While considered a historical figure by Polawan accounts, and by the ruling Etan Clan which claims direct descent from Akutei, Shakō's nephew, most foreign scholars consider Shakō and Himei to be largely legendary even if facets of their sagas are based in truth. Goto-kei is recognised as being attested to in several historical accounts and evidence from or near the period though many of the mythical attributes he is said to possess are believed to have been added later.

Origins

Shakō

Shakō (Ancient Polawan: S²akk, lit. "Pale King") is considered to be the first incarnation of the Dai Tokurun and the progenitor of the Polawan people. It is said that it is he who distinguished the three Polawan tribes from the seven Shihokian tribes, leading his people upon a great migration north. It was on this three centuries long migration that he ruled as the first king of the Polawans, enduring numerous trials and tribulations sent by the gods to judge whether the Polawans were suitable to take on the mantle and lead mankind.

Upon reaching a shore near the Eisdrache, it is said that a member of the third tribe spread false rumours and turned the exhausted people against him. He and his co-conspirators attempted to poison and trick Shakō numerous times but were unable to kill him. Finally they assaulted him for five days and six nights, and upon the seventh day had succeeded in mortally wounding him. Horrified by what had been done the first and second tribes banished the third tribe, which dispersed across the many islands of the Eisdrache and eventually forget its heritage.

With his last words Shakō cursed the first and second tribes, who had not aided him in his hour of need, to wander aimlessly across Nordesia until he returned. He then waded into the ocean and sank into the depths to wait until he was called upon by the gods to rise again, and the first and second tribes were left leaderless.
