The Democratic Socialist People's Republic of Tropico (Spanish: República Popular Socialista Democrática de Trópico) was a unitary sovereign socialist state which existed between 1965 and 1992, coterminous with the present-day country of Tropico in the Caribbean Sea. It was ruled by the Tropican Socialist Worker's Party and maintained close links with the Soviet Union throughout its history.

Formation

Consolidation of power (1964–68)

Allendeinstituted collectivization of livestock and sugar plations, began the destruction of the Catholic influence, and carried out Stalinist purges, which resulted in the murders of numerous clerym and other leaders.
