Dengang is a city in south-central Yuan, and it is the largest city of Tokhae province with a population of 3 million inhabitants. It is located on a plateau at an elevation of 1455 meters (4,774 ft), near the banks of Dengang Lake and just north of the border with Mandrao and Pangchu. Along with its nearby cities, Dengang is an important industrial center in Yuan, and serves as the transportation and commercial hub of Yuan's south-central region—particularly involved in links with neighboring countries. A center of heavy industry in Yuan since the 1930s, the city has been diversifying its industry, including expanding into the service sector. Growing industries include software, automotive and electronics. Dengang is also a winter tourism destination due to its proximity to mountainous regions. The Yuaneze government has faced international scrutiny for its incarceration of tens of thousands of Manda Pangchu in camps around Dengang.
