The Department of Culture is a federal government department in the Caldan Union that promotes Caldan identity, values, cultural development, arts, multiculturalism, and heritage. The current minister is Bernardo Hernández. The deputy minister is Bernard Harrison. The department deals with a broad area of Caldan life, though its interventions are normally small. The department promotes humanitarianism, volunteering, multiculturalism, the arts (including the performing and literary arts), the preservation of national battlefields, sport, linguistic preservation, symbols and ceremonies, broadcasting, cultural property, national museums, national libraries, and the promotion of public events in the Grand Duchy of Tarana. In carrying out these functions, the department has a number of divisions as well as working with other departments and with local and provincial authorities where appropriate.
