Department of Language Equity (Caldan Union)

The Department of Language Equity is a federal government department in the Caldan Union. The department is responsible for ensuring translation services are adequately provided for other areas of the federal government and also ensuring provincial compliance with language equity laws. The department is charged with giving special priority to indigenous languages and to recognised minority languages, including French, Caldan Brythonic, Scots, Amharic, Arabic, Hebrew, German, Farsi, and Polish. The increase in recognised minority languages occurred after the admission of seven former Caldan Dominions to provincial status and the abolition of dominion status. This was criticised by some who argued that only long-standing historical minority languages should receive this status.
