The Distinguished Medal of Valor is the second highest military honor of the Federal Republic of Fratanica, for "exceptionally courageous acts during the might of battle or adversarial attack". The medal can be awarded to both the living and the deceased. Each medal is approved by the National Assembly and presented by the Chief of the Defense Staff.
There are currently 831 recipients of the Distinguished Medal of Valor, 408 of them awarded posthumously. Many of these recipients were involved in smaller-scale operations. The medal is the same across all military service branches.
