Divinity Semi-Autonomous Air Force
The Divinity Semi-Autonomous Air Force is the air force of the province of Divinity. Divinity is unique among the provinces of the Blackhelm Confederacy because it was allowed to retain its own air force following the union with other central Hesperidesian states to form the Blackhelm Confederacy in 1997.
History
Following the collapse of the Empire of Exponent in November 1996, the newly established city-state of Divinity inherited the Imperial Air Force's equipment at the Divinity Air Base, giving it a sizable aerial arsenal in comparison to the other Hesperidesian successor states.
During the formation of the Blackhelm Confederacy, Divinity leaders were able to negotiate the retention of their armed forces on a limited scale in return for their joining the newly established Confederacy. Since then, the primary mission of the DSAF is aerial escort. The force also serves to reinforce Divinity's sovereignty within the Confederacy, and serves as a point of local provincial pride.
The DSAF was activated during the Blackhelm Confederate Revolution in 2011, after Divinity declared neutrality in the conflict and recalled its Senators from Paradise City. DSAF aircraft were utilized to interdict aircraft from both the Chancellerial and Senate forces, and escort them away from Divinity's air space.
