The economy of the Hansa Federation is a highly developed social market economy. It has one of the largest economies in Amnis and one of the largest in the world. The Hansa Federation has a very globalised economy and also boats a high trade surplus of $102 Billion. This economic results makes it a large exporter of goods. The service sector contributes around 69% of the total GDP, industry 30% and agriculture 1%. The top ten exports of the Hansa Federation are automobiles, machinery, transport equipment, industrial equipment, food products, chemical goods, aerospace equipment, chemicals, raw metals, and furniture. The economy has a large manufacturing sector making it less effected by financial downturn. (In theory). Hansa is rich in tumber, iron, salt, aluminium, tin and certain rare earth metals. Though there are some oil and natural gas sources they are located underneath national parks specifically Wustensee, Melcher and Coronettes so they are currently untapped. Energy in Hansa is primarily sourced by fossils fuels (66%) with gas, nuclear, wind, and solar power also being prominent sources. Though they are behind compared to other nations the Hansa Federation is making slow progress to move into the renewable age. however, manufacturing renewable energy equipment such as solar panels is an increasingly voilatile market.

Hansa has a lot of large corporations based within including but not limited to the RCO Company (Paper), Landerwagen (Cars), Cragimeisrer (Steel), Warnum-Reifen (Tires), and Smaack (Foodstuffs) and Sheepler (machinery). (ADD MORE COMPANIES LATER Hansair and Air Hansa are also large airlines located in Gala and Lufta respectivley.

History

The Restoration Era

Hansa was one of the first nations to start industrialising but full industrialsation did not start until the restoration era (1860-1890). TRaw resources from the colonies particularly Pantsville, TESDAI, and Spokane drove raw materials into the Hansan economy. In 1849, the first railroad was built between New Lubeck and Visby but commercial and civilian use of the railroads would not start until the 1850s. During the restoration era the railroads conquered Hansa and by the turn of the century essentially every city was connected by rails. This opened a lot of land for development and opened new markets for local products, and increased the deman for engineers, architects and skilled machinist and stimulated investments in coal and iron. Another fctor that propelled Hanseatic industry was the adoption of the Hanseatic dollar in the colonies made possible by Hansas retightinging grip on their empire. The Hanseatic dollar officially replaced the Hansan Altdollar as the currency in 1857. The hegemony that Hansa had upon the world at the end of the 19th century put Hansa at the center of a global presence and money and goods from every corner of the world eventually ended up in Hansa.

The combination of poltics in society in the Restoration age provided a lot of economic growth at the expense of the worker. Especially during the reign of Roger IV (1873-1898) the workday was long and the government was slow to adopt regulations. The labor movement culminated in the Loinchair war (1894-1896) which saw the government start to regulate Hansan industry and abolishing child labor. However this resulted in a better educated populace which led to more innovation.

By the turn of the century, Hansa had one of the largest steel indsutroes in the world and also had very large population growth and Hansa urbanized. The automobile industry was especially strong and even lasted throughout the Great War.

The Great War and Recovery

At the start of the Great War, business in Hansa was booming. During the war the government subsidized many companies to build military equipment and various companies of every industry was expected to help in the war effort. However, the war soon took its toll on the nation and funny enough the war was not good for the economy as in 1950, nearly every city was bombed out and industry would virtually have to be rebuilt.

During the 1950s low inflation rate, rapid industrial growth and poltical neutrality allowed the Hansa Federation to start the path to recovery. Led by Adrian Gower and later Nena Glassmeier, the nation scored lucky with good economists in the government.

Throughout the next couple decades there was unprecedented economic growth until the recession of 1994. However under Presdient Abernathy, the nation recovered with minimal losses. In the 2000s an aging population started to put strain under the welfare system until President Byrd passed Act 005 which reformed the welfare system.

Thorugh the present, Hansas economy contineus to be stronger then neighboring nations. In the 2020s natural gas from the Ethniopian civil war dried up causing a shift in the energy sector. Though the current president Aeur has been recluctant the nation is forced to move towards local renewable energy.

Companies

Hansa is recognised for its specialised yet large entirprises and corporations. Many Hansan companies including Landerwagen, Good Smaach, Shepler, and Kalte are global leaders in their sectors and are well known abroad.

Currently Hansa is in the midst of tech boom centered around the city of Gala. Various startups that are not limited to tech have begun appearing all around the nation.

Agriculture

Agriculture in the Hansa Federation is the largest industry in Hansa by land area. Most agriculture is concentrated in three "Leeressensplatz" which are essentially food belts. The first of these is the Weisenbelt which is a mainly wheat producing region strechting from southern Nordewald down through Mitteland into northern Apalia. The second is the Obstbelt in Veadland and parts of Ostland which mainly produce various fruits and vegetables. Finally the Maisenbelt is in the south and produces the vast majority of Hanseatic corn. Corn is the most popular crop in Hansa and remains the backbone of Weimeisenland. The corn industry is centered on the city of Maisenberg which has become the face of 21st century agriculture. Now a major biofuel producer corn is used in everything in Weimeisenland and Hansa around.

While the three belts are where most agriculture is concentrated every Kinderlanden has its state crop.
