The Embassy of the Constitutional Monarchy of Aquitayne, Paradise City is the diplomatic mission of Aquitayne in the Blackhelm Confederacy. The embassy is led by Ambassador Marius Marzei, and is located in the Tiberi section of the city. The embassy also acts as the official residence of the Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State to ATO and EATA nations for six months of every other year.

History

For centuries, Aquitaynian ambassadors to the Empire of Exponent operated from offices in the Palatium Lorecium.

The design of the current Embassy headquarters began in 1904, when it was commissioned by Marcus Antonius Surellius, a patrician from Redemption who intended to use the location as his Paradisian residence.

The building was completed the following year, and Surellius died in 1907, just two years after the home was completed. His heirs thereafter sold the property to the government of Aquitayne, which was looking to expand into a larger property and found the three-story villa to be a good fit. In 1908, the Aquitaynian ambassador took residence at the present structure, and has remained there with only brief interruption since.

2011 attack

The Aquitaynian embassy in Paradise City was the site of a violent confrontation between local militia, rioting civilians, Aquitaynian security personnel, and Blackhelm Confederacy forces on January 23, 2011, shortly after the end of the Blackhelm Confederate Revolution.

The conflict originated in the decision by the Aquitaynian ambassador and security forces to provide shelter to an Islamic family fleeing an attack by a Paradisian mob. The refusal to hand the family over to local militiamen gradually escalated until gunfire was exchanged by both sides. After a prolonged firefight, members of the militia and the mob penetrated the courtyard of the embassy and entered into the embassy structure, continuing to engage Aquitaynian security forces. Within minutes of the breach of the main entry, Blackhelm Confederate forces arrived and dispersed the crowd.

The event led to a widespread crackdown and disarmament of pro-government militias throughout the Blackhelm Confederacy, and drew widespread international condemnation.
