The Emir of Elam is the monarch and head of state of Elam. He serves as the head of the ruling dynasty — the House of Susa. The Emir is addressed as his Highness.
Although Elam is a constitutional monarchy, the Emir is vested with considerable executive and legislative powers. He is commander-in-chief of the Elamite armed forces and appoints the prime minister and the directors of the various cabinet agencies. He also appoints several members of the Majlis and the members of the Constitutional Court.
