Pistols

Vozh is unusual in that it issues service pistols to a wide variey of units, under the logic that even bullpup rifles may be too bulky for the tunnel-based warfare the Vozhsk military could expect to see in any potential conflict. It is therefor preferred that most military personnel have training with and access to pistols. Perhaps the most famous Vozhsk pistol is the M19; a 7.65x22mm pistol widely adopted by 20th century militaries which continues to be the main service pistol of the Vozhsk armed forces.

Assault Rifles

Vozh is one of the premier hubs of rifle design in the world. It The current Vozhsk service rifle is the VZS-96 bullpup rifle, chambered in 5.56. Officially adopted in 2006, most Vozhsk units had been equipped with the rifle by 2009. The "Model 1996, Self-Loading Rifle" has subsequently become a primary export of the Vozhsk defense industry, finding itself in service in several foreign militaries. Compared to the aging VZS-11, it offered a cheaper construction, reduced length and weight, superior ergonomics, ambidextrous controls, and superior reliability. A stouter chamber and barrel allowed for greater pressure tolerances, and thus could achieve a greater muzzle velocity.
