The Federal Fugitives Service (FFS) is a United States federal law enforcement agency under the U.S. Department of Justice charged with enforcing federal and state laws across the union. The FFS's mission is to assist states with finding and capturing wanted fugitives, and additionally, has exclusive jurisdiction to pursue and capture federal fugitives such as escapees from a BOP institution. The agency was created in XXXX after the successful escape and murder of multiple high-profile [NAME] state officials, which after a congressional inquiry was blamed on the lack of resources that the state could dedicate, and because the federal government at the time had no way in which it could assist. Additionally, the FFS is involved in the administration of fugitive operations, the management of certain criminal assets and the operation of the Justice Prisoner and Alien Transportation System. When the FFS was formed, it was seen as the greatest expansion of federal powers in over 20 years.
