The Federal Army is the land service branch of the Federal Armed Forces, designated as the Army of the Federation in the Constitution. As the oldest and most senior branch of the Federal military in order of precedence, the modern Army has roots in the Patriot Army, which was formed to fight the Atlesian War of Independence before Asteria was established as an independent country. The original Patriot Army that had fought against Auvernia was disbanded after the war, in 1778, but was reformed as the Federal Army by Congress in 1782. Despite these four years, where the organization technically didn't exist, the Army considers itself a continuation of the Patriot Army, and thus considers its institutional inception to be in 1765.

The Federal Army is a uniformed service of the Federation of Atlesia and is part of the Department of War.
