The First Crimean Civil War was a civil war in Crimea in 1920 fought for the leadership and control of Crimea during the country's transition from Allied occupation. The clashes took place in the context of the national, political, and social turmoil caused by World War I (Eastern Front) in Europe. The war was fought between the Crimean Soviet Socialist Republic, led by a section of the Social Democratic Party by Möbin Samitcky and support by the Soviet Union, and the Crimean First Republic, conducted by Khagan Bayğötdin I and the nationalist-conservative-based supported by Romania and Yugoslavia. The paramilitary Red Guards, composed of industrial and agrarian workers, controlled the cities and industrial centers of the Crimean Peninsula. The paramilitary Khanate Guards, composed of farmers and clerics, along with middle-class and upper-class social strata, controlled rural mainland Crimea.
