Galideen (Standard Galidee: ᎡᏆᎥᏓᎵ, tr. Galilahi), officially the Fellowship of Galideen (Standard Galidee: ᎦᎵᎳᎯᏍᎦᏚᎩ, tr. Galilahisgadugi) and also known as the Eight Nations, is a sovereign state in Midgard. It is a confederal consensus democracy comprised of eight nations, with confederal authorities seated in the holy grounds of Hiawaseth. It maintains a population of just under 300 million, and New Sequoyah is the largest city.
Prior to the foundation of the Fellowship, the lands of Galideen were inhabited by a number of proto-Galidee peoples, who later emerged as the eight tribes with distinct dialects seen today. Prior to 1200 CE, the area was comprised of a number of independent belligerent tribal polities, usually led by warlords. In the 1200s, Sequoyah the Saint and his disciples unified six of the eight nations under the Great Spirit, utilising a combination of conversion and military action, founding the Fellowship before his death. The Fellowship would continue to expand from here, coming to encompass a further two nations, with the existing nations also expanding their own territory; the most striking example of this being the 1572 Stork Wars, which saw the two largest nations expand greatly.
The Fellowship would wax and wane over the years, with largely stable internal affairs. This era of peace would be ended upon the start of the 1841 Galidee Civil War, which saw four tribes attempt to overthrow the existing government and install an autocratic ruler. Though the rebels would be defeated, the consequences of the conflict would reverberate for years to come, irrevocably changing the Fellowship, with the nation seeing political change. Despite this, in the latter half of the 1800s the nation would emerge as a hot spot for migration, drawing a great number of immigrants seeking a better life. The nation would join the Continental War on the side of the Entente in 1917, emerging victorious. Following this, the nation would emerge as a significant world power.
Galideen is a developed country with a GDP (PPP) per capita of $40,029, maintaining an intriguing economic system that effectively functions as mixed-market economy, though with traditions including that of a gift economy remaining. It exists as a significant great power, and is a member of a number of international organisations, such as the Midgard Convention.
