The Government of Dohyo no Deshi is a monarchic feudal kraterocracy in which the power of the Empress of Lesser Velutaria is limited and is relegated primarily to ceremonial duties and the Yokozuna is the de facto ruler. The Sumorate was established by Umegatani Tōtarō after political takeover of the Rikishi within society and was appointed as Yokozuna. Tōtarō governed as dictator from the eastern city of TBA with the Empress of Lesser Velutaria and her Imperial Court in the official capital city as figureheads of the area. Under him the Kraterocractic system was established in which only Rikishi in the newly established Sumo Class could hold political or military office but had to do so by achieving rank or status within the dohyo or ring of regular tournaments. This system continued even after Totaro himself was eventually unseated after being challenged. Each rank within sumo society is required its own time frame in which one must compete, however the ranks for which may hold office is not limited as long as one meets the minimum rank requirement for said position.
