The present monarch's full style and title is, "Sigbaldur, by the Grace of Odin, and the Styric People, Head of the State, King in Halstaad, Archduke of Styrae, King of the Isles and Vesallgarðr, Defender of the Faith, First of His Name." The title "Head of the State," is held by the Archduke personally, and not vested in any actual constitutional power held by the monarchy itself. High Priest Lief Galburdur gave the title "Defender of the Faith" to king Eric Magnusson in 1492 for remaining faithful to the Styric religion even when Christianity was the more popular religion among the peasantry. After King Eric was baptized, the High Priest revoked the title, but the monarchy passed a law retaining the title anyway. The title "King in Halstaad" is retained despite the constitution revoking the title of king from the House of Magnus in 1821, as a callback to the original monarchy.
