The Great Kingdom of Eden and Artalia, commonly known as the Great Kingdom (GK) is a sovereign country situated between the western coast of the Helsan mainland and the eastern coast of the Luscian mainland in Alithea. The Great Kingdom shares no land borders. The Great Kingdom has a land area of 511,024 km2, making it the largest non-continental island in Alitheia.
The Great Kingdom is a unitary parliamentary democracy with a constitutional monarchy. The current monarch is King Richard II, who has reigned since 2012. The Great Kingdom's capital and largest city is Edenguard, which houses over 40 million people. Other major urban areas in the GK include Allershire (21.2 million), Golden Bay (19.6 million), Astralon (16.6 million), and Greenwood (10.7 million).
The Great Kingdom is a developed country and has Alitheia's second largest economy by both nominal gross domestic product and purchasing power parity. It has a high income economy and a very high human development index. It was one of the first industrialised countries in Alitheia and became one of the foremost powers in the 20th Century, largely accredited to the Helsan Cold War, which took place from 1949 to 1999. The Great Kingdom is recognised as one of Alitheia's great powers, with significant political, military, and economic influence across the world. As a member of the Aegaeon Pact, the Great Kingdom is one of Alitheia's foremost military powers and utilises it's armed forces as part of the Pact's peacekeeping initiative. The Great Kingdom possesses the joint largest nuclear arsenal in Alitheia, but is bound to a treaty of nuclear disarmament with Anowa, the GK's equal as far as depth of nuclear arsenal.
