The Guardian Directorate is the eleven-member executive directorate which oversees the federal government in the Woodsteasian Federation, serving as joint head of government and state of Woodstead. The role of Federal President and the Vice are appointed by the Federal Parliament every 6 months; however, at the same time, they hold no power over other members and hold an essentially ceremonial role as figureheads: the President acts as the international figure, whilst the Vice is a domestic figure. Whilst the Directors in the Directorate are not parliamentary members, their ministers below them are, as well as the special parliamentary observers- currently of which there are three.
Directorate Members
Members of the Directorate are often known as Guardians when spoken of as a collective. However, when it comes to matters of their respective federal office, they are known as Directors. Below their offices are each several office ministers and senior civil servants, as well as cross-office ministers. Directorates are re-elected every four years by the Federal Parliament. Directorates are non-partisan and candidates for each office are selected from a shortlist devised by every provincial government (picked by the Governor and local Senate); therefore, in theory, all members could at once be from one provincial shortlist, but this would be highly unlikely. All members are technically even in the pecking order, but every six months, a Federal President is elected and a Vice President.
Currently, the Federal President is Vore Anmessrs, who was elected by fellow Guardians on 1 September 2016; the Federal Vice President, Anna Malik, was re-elected to this office as of the same date.

Parliamentary Observers
Parliamentary Observers are not Directors, but do have an obligation to attend briefings, advise, and report back to their respective committees. They are not allowed to vote on Directorate matters, but can often be given influence when giving advice from their committees and the Federal Parliament.
