The Hastings-class assault carrier is a class of assault carriers in service with the Concordian Navy. It was designed by Rusino Heavy Industries to supplement a role of heavy warship designed to assault the most fortified of locations (i.e. planets, space stations, installations, etc.) with ease and being able to take incredible amounts of punishment while doing so.
Characteristics
The Hastings-class is 36,551 meters from bow to stern and is 6,061 meters in width, with a height of 1,079 meters from the upper superstructure to the dorsal superstructure. If the masts are accounted into the measurements, the ship is 7,016 meters in height. The Hastings weigh 195,212,156 metric tons, hosting a crew of 24,112 personnel.
Power Generation & Propulsion
The Hastings are powered by two Rusino PGUA-21B antimatter reactors with five secondary Weyville Co. nuclear fusion reactors that can supplement the main reactors for up to 68.21% of their primary output. The Hastings-class are propelled by four Rusino PS-215C fusion drives and four Hurston-D'aarh maneuvering control systems.
Armament
The Hastings are armed with a primary armament of ten EAC-72 antimatter accelerators mounted in five dual-gun mounts that propel approximately one tonne of antimatter/matter at half the speed of light, able to cause massive amounts of destruction. The Hastings-class are also armed with five primary anti-fortification weapons, the EBP-65 "Cleanser" energy projectors. These fire a highly concentrated beam of plasma that is designed to glass planets from orbit and raze warships from afar. Glassing is the act of reducing a planet's surface to glass through vaporizing the atmosphere and superheating the surface. However, the EBP-65s are also able to be used against ships for devastating effect, as the extremely hot plasma at exceptional velocity can burn through even the heaviest or most resistant armours or shields with relative ease.
Defences
The Hastings-class is heavily armoured, necessary so that it can withstand devastating attacks while assaulting a fortified position. The energy shielding of the vessel is very efficient and strong, to withstand the full force of multiple shots of the main weapons from the Hastings. This shielding is reinforced with a Kinetic-thermal oscillation reclamation system that reclaims thermal energy from the firing of weaponry and the energy from weapon impacts to recharge the shielding faster and even boost it in situations. The armour of the Hastings is also heavy, with a nanocarbon composite armour that is very strong and resilient, yet light. Reinforced at a quantum level, the nanocarbon is very resistant to all forms of damage, including heat, kinetic impacts, antimatter annihilation, etc. The lattice of the nanocarbon atoms form small, regulated, crystalline shapes that increase the effectiveness of the armour.
In the case of boarding, the Hastings-class has several hundred thousand sentinels that have self-autonomy but are mostly controlled by the ship's AI. Every sentinel is armed with a charged particle beam weapon that can pierce through heavy armour or shielding on vehicles and is devastating against all kinds of infantry targets, whether they be synthetics or organics. Due to control being handed to an AI, they are impossible to be hacked by enemy forces. In addition, the Hastings can seal off entire compartments of the ship, just like any other Interstellar warship with antimatter shielding, which can only be defeated by starship-strength weaponry. The ships detachment of 3.5 million troops can also be called to defend the ship.
