Henrik Jorśsun is an Azmaran politician who has served as the leader of the Centre Party since April 2022 and the Vice-President of Westmaark since August 2019. Jorśsun previously served as Westmaark's Education Minister between 2014 and 2019.

Early life

Henrik was born on the 26th November, 1984, in Mideltuun, Westmaark. His father, Jorś Alekssun, served as a parish priest in the Mideltuun neighbourhood of Nyhaabelmer, while his mother served as a primary school teacher. He would attend Nord-Mideltuun Gymnasium between 1999 and 2003 and would go on to study at the Mikel Hankssun School of Government, graduating with a degree in economics and political science in 2007.

Political career

Political positions

Henrik has gained a reputation as a political nomad, with an idiosyncratic and syncretic take on Sotirian democracy and agrarianism and an appeal outside of his party's political base.

While retaining many of his party's core ideological assumptions, such as a social market economy friendly to small and medium enterprises, support for Azmara's agricultural sector, pro-Eucleanism and a consistent life ethic, Henrik has taken a significantly more environmentalist approach to many of these issues, advocating for tax breaks and subsidies for environmentally sustainable SMEs alongside a development fund to help agriculture transition towards sustainable policies and access abatement technology.

This approach is notably combined with a nationalistic stance on many issues, with Henrik strongly supporting the "Buy Euclean" initiative of preferential treatment towards Euclean firms in the public sector, arguing for the Azmaran government to adopt a "By Azmaran" approach on many areas the scheme does not cover. Henrik has also taken strident stances towards immigration and assimilation, supporting cuts to overall immigration levels, a tightening of Azmara's points-based system on permanent non-EC migration, mandatory Azmaran language, culture and civics classes for refugees and supporting a ban on the veil.

Henrik has also supported Azmaran federalism, notably saying in an interview that "all provinces deserve devolution" in reference to the devolution of powers to Haadland and Hytklif provinces and citing writings by party founder Oskar Askerssun in favour of political decentralisation.
